On the second anniversary of her death, the parents of Jennifer Cobb have filed a civil lawsuit against her alleged attacker and the Bell Family YMCA in Hartwell.

Jennifer’s mother Susan Cobb, issued a brief statement this week stating their civil attorneys have filed a lawsuit against Jeremy Leonard Green and the Bell Family Branch YMCA.

Wayne Cobb filed the complaint on June 30, exactly two years after his daughter died.

Jennifer’s parents say they believe their daughter’s death is related to years of sexual abuse on the part of Green though he has only been indicted for alleged crimes in 2015.

Devereux Behavioral Health, an organization that provides services to individuals with behavioral, developmental, and intellectual disabilities, has paid $9,236,006.56 in damages and litigation expenses to the estate of Tia McGee, who was sexually assaulted by a Devereux employee while a patient at their behavioral health facility in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Deitch + Rogers sexual assault lawyers Andrew Rogers and Kara Phillips obtained a $60 million jury verdict on behalf of a 15-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health. The jury also awarded attorney fees and expenses as a result of Devereux’s bad faith in the litigation in an amount to be determined by the court at a later date.

The victim was admitted for treatment at Devereux, a behavioral health facility located in Kennesaw, Cobb County, Georgia. While at the facility, she was sexually assaulted by 40-year-old Devereux employee Jimmy Singleterry.
