Kara Phillips joined The Crime Victim Law Group because she wanted to devote her practice to advocating for victims of violent crimes and demanding accountability from corporations that fail to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the people on their premises. She seeks to support her clients throughout the civil litigation process and coordinate resources to facilitate healing for survivors suffering from the life-altering impact of the crimes they have experienced.

Kara Phillips began her law career at a national defense law firm in Atlanta. While working in insurance defense, she focused her practice primarily on premises and products liability. She defended clients against negligent security, medical malpractice, slip and fall, and commercial transportation claims at the state and federal level. This former insurance defense experience now proves a valuable asset to The Crime Victim Law Group’s clients, as Kara Phillips discerns the decision-making nuances of insurance companies and their agents, and endeavors to apply that knowledge to benefit clients throughout their civil cases.

During law school, Kara Phillips gained valuable experience as an intern with Morgan & Morgan, P.A. and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, and as a law clerk at the Children’s Law Center in Los Angeles. She was a member of the moot court team and honored as a finalist in the school’s annual 1L Moot Court Competition. Kara Phillips was also recognized for her participation in John Marshall’s Pro Bono Outreach and Peer Mentor program, and volunteered with Kennedy Middle School’s Teen Court, which was sponsored by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Kara Phillips lives in Decatur with her family.
